My Friendships
What is a friendship? I think it is my best friend Ethan, who taught me the real meaning of friendship. He once said, “Friendships are hard to find, harder to leave, and impossible to forget.” A friendship is a close relationship that involves acceptance, common interests, laughter, respect, trust, and simply being there for the other person. Friendship is not a state of mind, it’s an act. It’s something a person just does.
Friendships are hard to find. Ask Michael Vick for example. Vick’s best friend Tony Taylor, rode the Vick gravy train since he broke into the league, but also was the first to betray him in criminal court. If there was any kind of friendship between the two, they both would be in prison, they would be sitting right beside each other saying, “Bro we messed up.” Although Vick was betrayed, friendships never end. Good friends are like stars, not visible in the light, but there during dark times.
Friendship is about being able to trust someone and feel relaxed around them. I remember when we were young, and went with a friend to their grandparent’s house for the weekend. It was fun, but when it came time to go home, home was wonderful. The feeling was, “I’m home. I can relax now.” That’s what a friendship is like. People go out into the world and do their best. There are days for ups and days for downs. There will be times for problems and triumphs, along with fun and excitement. There’s a time to laugh, and a time to cry. All these trials are based on friendship. At the end of the day, knowing someone cares in the best feeling in the world.
In today’s world, the word friendship is being tossed around like candy canes at a Christmas parade. Friendship is not a state of mind, it is an act. It’s something a person does. It is not about being good enough for another person, it is a reflection of who we are. It is a balanced relationship between two people. That doesn’t mean it is balanced at every moment. Sometimes people just “need a friend,” and other times it is the other way around. Friendship is based on a trust system that must be implemented on both parts. When I was younger and thought I was in love, a friend said, “It is not love unless it is returned.” Friendship and love are not quite the same thing, although there is a lot of love around friendship. Love is the driving force that creates and sustains friendship.
Friendships lift hearts and lengthens lives. Friendship is possible between two people with compatible personalities who share interests, pleasures and the presence of one another. Friendship is created and maintained through a cycle of building mutual trust through love and communication. Friendships have become a necessity in today’s world. Without a friendship, there is no relationship. “A honest answer in the sign of true friendship.” -Proverbs 24:56

CHRISTMAS BREAK
Risk. Risk, Risk!
SOMETIMES IN LIFE YOU HAVE TO TAKE RISKS AND TRY TO DO WHAT'S BEST FOR YOU AND YOURSELF, NO ONE ELSE. ALWAYS REMEMBER DON'T LET NEGATIVE PEOPLE SPOIL YOUR FUN OR TRY AND MAKE YOU THINK THAT WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS GOING TO EFFECT YOU SOMEDAY EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO AND JUST TAKE A RISK YOU NEVER KNOW IT MIGHT JUST BE THE BEST THING TO DO IN THE LONG RUN. BUT LIKE I SAID ALL RISK ARE NOT BAD SO LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST AND EVERYTHING WILL EVENTUALLY WORK OUT. I HOPE MY FELLOW COLLEGE FRIENDS CAN TAKE SOMETHING FROM THIS :-)

Propsed Dress Code
For those students and staff members who don’t know, Louisburg College is starting a dress code next year, the dress code will apply both in and outside the classroom. Board members believe the dress code will adhere to standards of cleanliness, and assist with creating an educational environment in which the students need to learn it. The acceptable dress code is as follows…
Clothing supporting a learning-teaching environment
Shorts longer than or equal to mid-thigh
Dresses no longer than three inches above the top of the knee
Shirts and blouses that are not tank top of have spaghetti straps
Shirts and blouses that go past the waste line and cover the waist/midriff
Clothing that is not sheer, mesh, or see through
Clothing worn to cover undergarments
Laced or slip on shoes of the correct size with laces tied
Unacceptable Dress
Hats, sweatpants, wraps, sunglasses
Clothing promoting alcohol or drugs
Clothing promoting gangs
Pajamas, sweatpants
Visible undergarments
Although the dress code may seem fair to some students, there’s a lot who wont follow by it. College is a place for adults to come get an education telling them what to wear should not be a choice made by the college. In my opinion, if the dress code does take effect. I will abide by it, it’s my peers and teachers who I’m worried about.
